About the Foundation
Relationships are the foundation of UPMC Western Maryland. Just as you are a valued supporter, we value teamwork and collaboration as inherent to our success.
The work of UPMC Western Maryland and the Foundation are completely integrated and unified. We work in concert, shoulder-to-shoulder, arm-in-arm, and hand-in-hand. Keep in mind, we want to leave you satisfied and gratified, knowing that your contribution, no matter the size, has been used wisely and well.
Whether you are a long-time supporter of UPMC Western Maryland or are new to the family, we consider you just that: family. The entire region owes a great debt of gratitude to you for helping us improve the health of patients throughout our community and well beyond.
In reflecting upon our success, we are ever mindful that UPMC Western Maryland would not exist as it does today without your help. Whether you are a healthcare provider, a dedicated advocate, or loyal donor, you demonstrate what the UPMC Western Maryland family does best: Caring for What Matters Most.
Our Donations
In the past decade, Foundation fund development has exceeded $20 million, providing a reliable source of revenue for UPMC Western Maryland endeavors, and supporting UPMC Western Maryland as a well-positioned leader in healthcare now and into the future. Primary support has been directed to capital purchases, equipment and technology, scholarships, and care for patients in need.
All donations to UPMC Western Maryland are processed through the Foundation, where donations are carefully recorded, donors are recognized, and funds are designated for specific programs. Each year, those donations make a significant impact, as the Foundation provides a minimum of $250,000 to UPMC Western Maryland for capital purchases, approximately $100,000 in scholarships to students in healthcare fields, approximately $100,000 for patient needs, and additional thousands of dollars to support emerging strategic needs of the system.
We have gift options for everyone: very modest gifts to the gift of a lifetime.
Sources of funds coming into the Foundation for disbursement include one-time or recurring individual gifts, Oncology Tribute Wall blocks, corporate contributions, third-party group donations, grants, gifts of real estate, insurance policies, or charitable trusts, planned “Legacy Gifts,” and the annual Golf Classic.
